Frequently Asked Questions

• How do I add my first offsets?
  1. Open Offset
  2. Tap the ellipsis (···) menu
  3. Select Manage Offsets
  4. Search for a city and add it as an offset

  Offset will show your local time (based on your iPhone settings) plus your added offsets.

• How do I convert a time?
  1. Tap the time picker at the top
  2. Scroll the wheels to set the time
  3. All offsets update immediately

  Offset is designed for "today" conversions only. If you need to plan across future dates, daylight saving changes may differ on those dates.

• How are offsets ordered?

  Offsets are automatically ordered by time so you can scan the list quickly.

• What are Lists? (Offset Pro)

  Lists let you group offsets (e.g., Family, Work, Travel).

  • An offset can appear in multiple lists
  • Once you create at least one list, an All list appears (your master view)
  • Lists can be renamed and deleted
• What are Nicknames? (Offset Pro)

  Nicknames are per offset, so you can label them in a way that makes sense:

  • "Big Sis"
  • "Cousin"
  • "Berlin Office"
• What is Home Location? (Offset Pro)

  You can optionally set a Home Location manually for quick reference.

  • Manual selection only
  • Offset does not use GPS/location permissions for this
• What does Offset Pro include?

  The free version of Offset includes local time and up to 2 offsets (cities).

  Offset Pro (one-time purchase) unlocks:

  • Unlimited offsets
  • Lists
  • Nicknames
  • Home location
  • Future Offset Pro features

• How do I restore purchases?

  If Offset Pro isn’t unlocked:

  1. Open Settings in Offset
  2. Tap Restore Purchases
• How does iCloud sync work?

  Offset syncs your offsets, lists, and nicknames using iCloud (CloudKit) so your setup can carry across your devices.

  • Sync requires iCloud to be enabled on your device
  • Time conversion itself works offline, but syncing changes may not occur until you’re online
• Offset Pro didn't unlock

  Try in this order:

  1. Open Settings → Restore Purchases
  2. Force close and reopen the app
  3. Confirm you’re signed into the same Apple ID that purchased Offset Pro
  4. Confirm Family Sharing is enabled (if using a family purchase)

  If it still doesn’t unlock, email [email protected].

• I can't find my city

  Offset includes many major cities, but not every town/suburb.

  Workaround:

  • Search for the nearest major city
  • Add it as an offset
  • Use a nickname to label it as the person/place you actually mean

  Example: add "Berlin" and nickname it "Brother in Law".

• Times look wrong

  Offset uses your iPhone’s system settings and automatic time zone rules (including daylight saving).

  Check:

  • Your iPhone Date & Time settings are correct
  • You added the correct city/offset
  • You’re interpreting it as a today conversion (Offset does not support future-date planning)
• iCloud sync not working
  • Confirm you’re signed into iCloud on the device
  • Ensure iCloud access is enabled for Offset (in iOS Settings)
  • Give it time — CloudKit sync can be delayed depending on network/Apple services
• How does Offset handle my privacy?

  Offset is private by design:

  • No accounts
  • No ads
  • No analytics
  • No tracking
  • No third-party SDKs

  Data stored is limited to what you enter (offsets, lists, nicknames, optional home location) and is synced via iCloud (CloudKit).
